Casa De La Paz: A Canadian Couple's Inspiring Journey to Bring Hope to Bucerías

In the heart of the vibrant Mexican community of Bucerias, a Canadian couple named Jim and Marilyn Moxin embarked on a remarkable journey to fulfill a dream—one that would touch the lives of many in need. Their vision? To create a haven for local elderly residents who often find themselves facing the challenges of poverty and difficult living conditions in their golden years.

The Moxins, driven by compassion and a desire to make a meaningful impact, began by delivering bimonthly dispenses to the community. These dispenses, filled with essential items like rice, oil, and soap, not only addressed immediate needs but also symbolized a message of care and remembrance for those who too often felt forgotten.

As Jim and Marilyn continued their dispensing efforts, the pressing need for a dedicated care facility became evident. The couple envisioned a retirement home, a sanctuary named Casa De La Paz, where 36 elderly residents could find comfort, support, and a renewed sense of dignity.

Their inspiring movement caught the attention of Kalos Grimaldi, a local businessman and construction developer. Recognizing the potential impact of Casa De La Paz, Grimaldi decided to join forces with the Moxins. Through his connections with the Ejido in nearby Valle De Banderas, the pivotal step was taken: the donation of land for the ambitious project.

The journey from dream to reality involved numerous meetings, careful planning, and navigating bureaucratic intricacies. The Ejido's decision to contribute the land was a transformative moment, marking the beginning of Casa De La Paz's journey toward becoming a beacon of hope in the community.

Casa De La Paz is not merely a retirement home; it's a testament to the power of compassion and collective action. Beyond providing a residence for 36 seniors, the facility will offer an adult daycare service catering to 45 additional individuals. Full-time medical staff will be on-site, ensuring the holistic well-being of the residents.

Having had the privilege to witness the dispensing efforts alongside Jim and Marilyn, the dire living conditions in Bucerias are painfully apparent. Poverty casts a long shadow, but the dispenses bring a glimmer of hope. Casa De La Paz, with its comprehensive approach to elder care, is poised to be a transformative force in the lives of many.

With construction well underway, the dream of Casa De La Paz is rapidly taking shape, becoming a tangible reality for Jim and Maryln Moxin, Kalos Grimaldi, and the entire community. The rhythmic sounds of hammers and the hum of machinery echo the promise of a brighter future for the elderly residents who will soon call Casa De La Paz home. The project, fueled by the collaboration of dedicated individuals, is on track for completion in July of 2024.

In a community where spirits light up at the sight of a simple bag of goods, Casa De La Paz represents a promise—a promise that no one is forgotten, and that caring hearts, like those of Jim and Marilyn Moxin, can create lasting change. As the construction of Casa De La Paz progresses, the visionaries behind this project are not just building walls; they are constructing a legacy of compassion, unity, and hope. The Casa De La Paz retirement home is set to become a cornerstone in the community, radiating positivity and bringing light to those who need it most.
